🍔 Questions Before You Book?

Quick answers about booking The Burger Bus for school events, community gatherings, company lunches, graduations, parks, venues, private parties, and neighborhood celebrations.

📅 Booking & Quotes

What to send, when to book, and how we check if the event is a fit.

How do I book The Burger Bus?

Start by sending the event date, event address, estimated guest count, serving window, and event type through the quote form. From there, the event can be reviewed for availability, route fit, setup access, timing, and service style.

Will the original Burger Bus come to my event?

The original 1998 Burger Bus is currently enjoying its well-earned teacher’s pension. Today, The Burger Bus serves events through our coached, dedicated catering teams, matched to your date, location, guest count, and service style. That means your event may not be served by the original bus itself, but the menu, communication, and goals are the same: burgers worth chasing, a clean serving plan, and a truck or catering setup that fits your crowd.

What information should I include when requesting a quote?

The most helpful quote request includes the event date, event address or venue name, estimated guest count, preferred serving window, and any special requests.

How far in advance should I book?

For the best shot at availability, we suggest booking 4-8 weeks out — but don't sweat it if you're cutting it close, since rush bookings and even week-of requests are typically doable. Just know that if your first choice truck is already snagged, we may need to roll with a backup preference instead.

Can I check availability before I know every detail?

Honestly? It's tough to lock down availability until we know the location and time. If the location's still up in the air, we're basically throwing darts at a wall.

🎉 Events We Fit Best

Burgers work well when the event needs familiar food and a clean serving flow.

What types of events is The Burger Bus best for?

The Burger Bus is built for crowd-friendly events where guests want familiar food and a line that keeps moving. It is a strong fit for school events, graduations, booster nights, youth sports, community events, employee lunches, private parties, and casual celebrations.

Can The Burger Bus serve school events?

Yes. School events are one of the best fits for burger truck catering because the menu is easy for students, parents, staff, and volunteers to understand quickly. The important details are campus access, serving location, timing, parking, and any school or district requirements.

Can you serve parks and community events?

Often, yes. Park and community events usually need an address-specific setup review. The big questions are where the truck can park, how guests will line up, whether the site requires approval, and whether any local or venue rules apply.

Can The Burger Bus handle corporate lunches or employee appreciation events?

Yes. Burger truck service can work well for employee lunches, office events, warehouse lunches, team appreciation, and company celebrations. For business events, the most important details are the serving window, guest count, parking area, and whether guests will arrive all at once or in waves.

Can you cater graduations, birthdays, and private parties?

Yes. Private events are a good fit when the property has enough access for the truck and a clear place for guests to order or pick up food. Driveway width, street parking, HOA rules, and neighborhood access should be checked early.

🍔 Menu & Guest Needs

Simple, familiar food is the point. The event plan should match the crowd.

What does The Burger Bus serve?

The Burger Bus is centered around burger truck catering: burgers, cheeseburgers, sides, and crowd-friendly options that are easy to serve at events. Final menu details depend on the event type, guest count, service style, location, and which of our catering teams is available for your date.

Can the menu be adjusted for our event?

Yes, absolutely — the menu can be adjusted to fit your event. Our standard menus are our crowd favorites, built to be approachable and please a crowd. But if you've already got exactly what you want in mind, just tell us and we'll quote that instead.

Can you help with vegetarian, kid-friendly, or dietary requests?

Tell us about dietary requests early so they can be reviewed with the event plan. Kid-friendly and vegetarian-style options may be possible depending on the event and menu. Allergy-level needs should be discussed carefully because mobile food service can involve shared prep and cooking environments.

How do you keep the line moving at bigger events?

The best plan usually uses a clear serving window, a focused menu, a smart truck position, and a guest flow that does not force everyone into the same bottleneck. For schools, companies, and community events, it can also help to serve guests in waves.

🅿️ Setup, Access & Approvals

The truck has to fit the site before the burgers can do their job.

How much space does the truck need?

Many food truck setups need roughly 30 to 40 feet of clear space, but the exact requirement depends on the truck, the site, the serving setup, and how guests will line up. Send photos, maps, parking notes, or venue instructions if you have them. Fire code typically requires a 10ft buffer on the front and end of all food trucks.

Does The Burger Bus need power?

Power needs vary by setup and location. All our trucks have their own generators, however sometimes these require venue approval. Include any power restrictions, generator rules, or venue requirements with your quote request.

Can the truck serve at a school, park, venue, or private property?

We sure can! We're mobile, so we roll right up wherever you need us — school, park, venue, or private property.

Who handles permits or venue approvals?

That's on the host's side. We can hand over our licensing and proof of insurance, but we don't pull event permits or cover venue costs on behalf of a host.

Can you provide insurance or vendor documentation?

We can provide that when requested. Please note on COI's our agents can take up to 7 days. We are unable to change our policies for events.

What makes a site difficult for burger truck service?

Narrow streets, blocked loading zones, steep driveways, tight turns, low branches, no legal parking, long walks from truck to guests, and unclear venue rules can all create problems. The earlier those details are shared, the easier it is to plan around them.

💬 Pricing & Payment

Quotes depend on the date, address, guest count, service window, and setup.

Do you offer fixed per-person pricing?

Sometimes. Pricing may be per person, package-based, or subject to a minimum depending on the event. Your quote will clearly show how your price is structured.

Is there a minimum guest count?

Nope, no minimum guest count here — we just work off a minimum spend instead.

Are there travel fees or service fees?

Travel, staffing, service time, setup requirements, and distance from the available truck can all affect the final quote. Ask for the total event estimate so you can see what is included before booking.

Are there hidden fees?

The goal is to make the quote clear before the event is confirmed. Extra costs are usually tied to details such as distance, extended service time, unusual access needs, venue requirements, menu changes, or guest-count changes, but every expense is shared up front with your form submission.

What are the payment terms?

Payment terms will be listed in your catering agreement. The payment schedule is tied to your event date, and full payment is required prior to the event.

🚚 Day-Of Event Flow

A good burger truck event is planned before the first guest gets hungry.

How long does service take for a larger event?

We can typically flip through 60-80 guests per hour on the grill. The exact pace depends on how streamlined your menu is and what your vision looks like for the event. For bigger crowds, we recommend bringing in some of our other partner trucks to keep the line moving and the burgers coming.

What should the host have ready before the truck arrives?

Have the parking/setup area clear, confirm who is authorized to direct the truck, share any gate codes or loading instructions, and make sure the serving area is approved by the venue or property owner. If the event has security, school staff, HOA rules, or venue staff, those contacts should be known ahead of time.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Weather plans depend on the site and event type. Rain, snow, heat, wind, or lightning can affect guest lines, truck placement, and service timing. Covered guest areas, adjusted serving windows, or venue backup plans should be discussed early when weather is a concern.

Can the serving time be changed after booking?

Sometimes, but changes depend on the truck schedule, staffing, food prep, travel route, and other events on the calendar. Send timing changes as early as possible so they can be reviewed before the event day.

📍 Locations & Service Areas

Location pages help with planning, but every event still needs an address check.

Where does The Burger Bus serve?

The Burger Bus serves events through our coached catering teams, so availability is checked by event address, date, guest count, and setup needs. The fastest way to confirm is to send the exact event address or closest known venue location when you request a quote. If the original bus is not the right fit or is not available, we can review which of our catering teams can serve the event instead.

Does a city page guarantee service in that city?

No. A location page is a planning guide, not a final booking guarantee. The actual event still needs to be reviewed for address, availability, travel, venue rules, parking, guest flow, catering team fit, and service timing.

Can you serve nearby towns or communities outside a main city?

Absolutely! We're mobile, so we can go wherever you are!

Why do you ask for the exact event address?

The exact address affects travel, parking, access, venue rules, school or park requirements, and how the line will work. It also helps avoid quoting a plan that looks good on paper but does not fit the actual site.

Booking

How do I check if my date is available?

Just hit up our website and submit the form — quick and painless. We've got multiple trucks and cuisines ready to roll, so don't be shy about reaching out and locking down your date.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?

All cancellation and reschedule policies can be found in our booking terms linked in the footer of our website. You'll also get a copy with your catering agreement when you book.

What information do you need to give me a quote?

To get you a quote, just give us the date, time, address, and guest count — that's all we need to roll.

Pricing & terms

What happens to my price if the event changes?

We can absolutely tweak your event details, but heads up — once your guest count's confirmed, it can't go down. Any approved changes that shift the price will show up in a revised quote for you to check out.

What affects the price of my event?

Your date, service time, guest count, and event address all factor into your price.

Is gratuity included or expected?

Gratuity is not included or added automatically. Tipping is optional, and any cash or card tip goes directly to the crew serving your event.

Are there any fees I should know about up front?

Your written quote shows all charges before you book, including any travel, taxes, or booking fees. We do not add fees after you accept the quote unless your event changes and you approve a revised price.

What is included in the quote you send me?

Your quote covers food service for the quoted guest count, plus the plates, utensils, and serving supplies included with your selected service.

How is your pricing structured?

Every event is quoted individually based on the menu, guest count, service time, and location. Your accepted quote is your price unless you approve a later revision.

How do you work out travel costs?

Travel costs come down to where the serving truck is rolling in from and how far it's got to go to reach your event. We run out of many major metro areas and can roll beyond them when available.

Food

How is your food actually cooked?

The food gets cooked between our commissary and the truck itself — small batches, done right, the same way we'd cook it for our own family.

Do you have kid-friendly options?

Kid-friendly? Absolutely, no question. Kids can be picky eaters, so just give us a heads-up ahead of time on what they're into. Tell us what your kids like and we'll make sure we can make it happen — every kid's different, and we're happy to make them happy.

What do you refuse to compromise on?

Quality and responsiveness — full stop. Communication is the key that gives you the reassurance we know what you want and how to pull it off. The food is what makes your event go smooth.

What do guests notice most about your food?

Passion and love. Our teams don't cook because they "can" — they cook because they want to.

What sides and drinks come with it?

Every menu comes with its own lineup of sides, and we can make changes where need be. As for drinks, we roll with an assortment of soda and water, which can vary by region.

Dietary

How do you handle food allergies?

We are very sensitive to guest needs. We put the upmost care into accommodating, but we only know the dietary restrictions you tell us up front. If there are severe allergies or needs please let our team know up front.

Do you offer gluten-friendly options?

We absolutely do!

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

We can accommodate for almost any situation as long as we know up front. Surprises on site don't usually go well for our team or your guests.

Do you offer a vegetarian option?

Yep — every menu comes with a vegetarian option, guaranteed. You get to build your own menu, but we always recommend keeping at least one veggie option on there since it's such a common dietary need. Trust us, your veggie guests will thank you.

Service & the day

How early do you arrive before service starts?

Our crews roll in 30-60 minutes before service kicks off. We give ourselves that window because, hey, traffic can be unpredictable.

How do you communicate with hosts before and during the event?

When we roll up on-site, our team gives the host a call to check in and get pointed to the right parking spot. Before the big day, we'll email you the day-of contact for the truck team — that goes out 24-48 hours prior to your party. On top of that, we've got an automated email that pings you ahead of the event just to confirm nothing's changed on your end, so we can show up locked in and ready to grill.

What happens to leftover food?

Leftovers are your call — we'll either haul 'em off and handle disposal ourselves, or you're welcome to keep 'em. Just give us a heads-up 15 minutes before service if you want the extras, so we can bundle everything up and still roll out on time for our next gig.

How does the serving line actually move?

Every party's different, and honestly? Every crowd moves at its own pace. The bottleneck at the window isn't the cooking — it's the chatting, the menu questions, the "wait, what comes on that?" We're built for speed, but we can only move as fast as your guests order. Get the menu in front of them ahead of time, and that line flies.

What do you do when the line gets long?

When the lines stack up, we don't slow down — we shift gears. We start batch cooking, knocking out 2-3 orders at a time and cooking to the back of the line, which means we've always got a few of each option ready to fire out the window the second it's ordered. Long line doesn't mean stale food or standing around — everything's out within a minute or two, and we're already cooking to restock and keep the line moving.

What does setup look like on event day?

We roll in about 30-60 minutes before service starts, depending on how traffic treats us. Most of the prep work is already done before we even arrive, so we're not scrambling — we just pull up, open the window right on time, and start slinging burgers. Once your time frame wraps up (or every last guest is fed, whichever comes first), we pack up quietly and roll out. No fuss, no drama.

Do you provide plates, napkins, and utensils?

Yep — we bring all the cutlery and disposables you need so guests can enjoy their meal without a hitch. Just know we don't provide extras for items we're not the ones bringing.

What happens at the end of service?

At the end of service, we say a big thank-you to the host, pack up the truck, and hit the road.

Site & logistics

What if my venue has tight or unusual access?

Tight squeeze? No sweat — we'll work with it. If your venue's access is a little unusual, we may need to shift where we park and set up shop. Before service, we'll give you our exact truck dimensions so you can confirm everything fits. As a good rule of thumb, plan for 40ftx10ftx12ft tall of clearance, with upwards of 50 ft needed to maneuver a trailer in. And worst case scenario? We just park somewhere safe — nothing gets damaged — and set up a little farther away than usual. Either way, everybody's getting fed.

What do you need from us on the day?

Here's what we need from you on the day: a clear, level spot for us to park, and someone who'll pick up the phone as we roll in so we can find the right spot to set up.

Can you serve indoors, or do you need to be outside?

We can absolutely bring the burgers inside! The main catch is fire code — most of the time it requires ventilation to be inside or for us to cook using electric equipment. But don't worry, that's the kind of thing we can figure out together if needed!

Do you need power or water hookups?

We're fully self-sufficient once we roll up and park — no power or water hookups needed.

Events

What kinds of events do you cater?

We cater events of all sizes and styles. If you need great food, we would love to help!

What kind of event are you the best fit for?

We're a great fit for any event with great food. We don't get too hung up on the event type — what we care about is the food and the experience we bring to hosts and guests.

What's the most memorable event you've done?

We've rolled up to it all — weddings, country super-stars, professional athletes — but none of that beats the very first time your dream rolls out on wheels and that truck heads out for its first job. Those first-job memories? The ones you never let go of.

The unexpected

What if you run out of food?

We roll up with enough food to cover the guest count you give us upfront — no more, no less. That's why an accurate headcount matters: give us the real number and we won't come up short. Here's the thing about running a kitchen on wheels — we don't have the big fridges and freezers to stash backup product should the guest count end up higher than expected. On the flip side, should the guest count come in lower than anticipated, all those leftovers are yours to keep.

What do hosts most often forget to ask?

Dietary restrictions. Accommodating your guests isn't hard if we know up front, but once the kitchen introduces gluten and half your guests are GF, it's hard to decontaminate/eliminate the gluten with 100% certainty. Ask early — it makes all the difference.

What happens if you're delayed getting to the venue?

Look, we're a truck, not a teleporter — so if there's a bad accident blocking traffic, delays can happen. But here's the thing: while that's few and far between, we're happy to stay late to make sure everyone gets fed. Accidents aren't our fault or your fault, but we're not about to let that mean you miss out on what you paid for.

What happens if more guests show up than we told you?

There is a chance we run out of food. Its good practice to overestimate by 10-15% to make sure everyone gets fed.

What's your plan if the weather turns bad?

We show up rain, snow, wind, or shine. We can always pack things in to-go containers.

Proof & trust

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. All our teams hold a health license and insurance.

What makes you different from other caterers?

As much as we would love to say we serve better food - the truth is our other food truck friends serve great food too, we just believe ours is superior. Our differentiating factor is our communication. We answer the phone at all times, respond to emails at all hours and text you back. We leave no channel left unresponded to.

How long have you been doing this?

We fired up our first truck back in 2016 and have been slowly adapting and growing ever since. Let us know how we can serve you!
